Renault Koleos Concept

Berman-2007-main1

Berman Autostyle Competition 2007

Here is the work I participated with on the 4th edition of the Berman Autostyle Competition in 2007. I had to work on two different cars each from a separate category: Renault Koleos Concept – create an urban version and Jaguar CF-X Concept.
The task was to create a special version based on an existing production or concept car. I had to focus mainly on the exterior and was allowed to add accessory parts or replace original OE components such as bumpers, grilles, side skirts, wheel arches, mouldings etc. No modifications to the original bodywork were permitted. THE AWARD

The Renault Koleos Concept- Special Version won the special award for Best Industrialized project, given by Dassault Systems – the sponsor of the Berman Autostyle Competition in 2007. Another award was given by Auto&Design magazine for best proposal on the competition, chosen by all the people attending the event.
DESIGN

Generally, the look of the car is meant to be less SUV like, while seeking for a subtle elegance and more urban appeal. The main task was having a proper SUV, which is slightly less OFF-Road looking, but also delivering an elegant family vehicle at the same time. The major changes are on the front and rear bumpers where the vehicle differs most from the origin, some changes on the side of the car and few
details too.
I have used fibre-glass mouldings around the body of the car. There are number of panels fitted precisely on the existing body, so they can be easily attached and detached. Materials used for transforming the car are: aluminium, ordinary metal sheet (for the front face of the car), fibre-glass and a little bit of chrome. The main reason for using fibre-glass is the low cost of the material, light weight, precise to work with, easy to supply, cheap to replace.
