Spread the love
Many car owners don’t really spend much time thinking about their engine. They just hop into their car and head to wherever they are going to. They only give attention to their engine when it starts making a strange sound or when the car feels somewhat different. The engine is one of the most important parts of a car and at that; it needs to be looked after. If you want your engine to last long, you have to maintain it on a regular basis. Also, you need to take it to an auto repair shop for check- up from time to time.

In this article, we are going to be looking at some easy and effective ways to make your engine last longer.

Change oil on a regular basis

This is basically one of the most important things you can do for your engine. Oil keeps important engine parts lubricated so that they don’t overheat. Your engine will not function properly without oil. Not changing the oil in your engine on time may lead to permanent damage to your engine.

Try to change the oil in your engine after every five thousand miles. If you want to know exactly when you should change the oil in your car, then you should read your car manual. If you can’t find it in your manual, do some research online to find out when your car oil should be changed.

Ensure that the cooling system is working perfectly

Another way to keep your engine in top-notch condition is by making sure that your cooling system is working. The cooling system includes the thermostat, coolant, radiator, and water pump. The easiest and most effective way to prevent your car engine from overheating is by making sure that you have the right amount of radiator fluid or coolant circulating through your engine.

If you notice that your car is overheating, take it to the mechanic as soon as you can so that they can run a cooling system check.

Keep your engine alive

Cars need constant air flow just like us. Another way to keep your engine alive is by keeping it running. There need to be a constant flow of air from your engine without any sort of hindrance or restriction. Air filters keep the dirt outside, but with time they are going to get clogged and dirty. When this happens your engine is going to be starved of oxygen. So, when you change your oil, take a quick look at your air filter to see if it is clean.
